Typewriter and Meeee...

Typwrtiter and me....

I am from a simple Middle class family. My childhood was very really very beautiful. School homework and play (generally out door games).
My father was a accountant with a small bulk drug trader. During that time salary was too low so the sustenance of family was difficult. Well we had small family but eventhough my father and mother were very eager to fullfil all the needs of there children. To fullfil or to makeup the deficiency of family needs my father started part time job. He was not that qualified but his English and grammar was excellent. He  join one small firm for daily half an hour to go there and to do there daily routine correspondence. But shortly he realized that it was too tough for him as far as time is concerned. So he left that job and purchased second hand portable type writter of Hermes Company (Hermes was the make). I still remember it was very small and gold silver mix colour combination. Very Beautiful. Then after he join many small traders (i don't know how many but plenty of) for there correspondence job. Per letter he fixed some amount. And to bring all there Letter Heads and everything at home after dinner he use to type party by party from 9pm to 1-2am daily and my mother used to make 2-3 times tea for them both and next day delivery of all such typed documents. It lasted for very long time. One fine day my father came across a person who use to auctioned old and used materials and he was having 67 Typewriters small big of all different makes. My father took me along with him on his godown where all the Typewriters were lying in such a pathetic conditions.
He told  my father to take all the Typewriters at the rate of Scrap. So We all machines  loaded to tempo and brought all to our home. My age was around 11-12 at that time. I was too curious about all that machines and it's mechanism. Non of the machine was not in a working condition so he purchased whole tool kit. He was also not aware of its mechanism but he started opening one after another machine and we both observed it's mechanism. When he tired he left it in a mess condition because it was very tough and full of rust and dust.
When he left i started with screw driver and started opening. At that time Kerosene was available so started cleaned all parts with Kerosene and removed the dust with my personal tooth brush and also used my school water colour brush from my personal kit.
Everyday almost coming from school that became my routine to seat with the machine. Sometimes my mother was saying that your father will scold u but without listening her i continued.
ЁЯШВ After my so many days efforts i got the result that one big machine (Woodstock make) and one portable machine (Brothers make) started working. I still remember that day. I was too happy and eagerly waited my father to show these as soon as he come.

When he saw it... He was about to cry to he took me to his arms and kissed me on my forehead. I got my tiny life's best certificate and encouragement. Next day he bought machine oil bottle. It became just my habit to be with machine day and night.
Slowly i got thorough knowledge of internal mechanism of all makes because I was having so many machines in front of me. Gradually 2 machines 4 machines and so on started working. My father went to same auctioneer and said many machines are now in a good conditions and working efficiently. So he came to see it and very much pleased. We purchased that machines at Scrap rate but he was so genuine that individual rate  he quoted. And without single word my father gave it to him.
Very honestly We earned lot in that deal how much I don't know but my father and mother both were too happy and same day evening my father took me to a good restaurant to eat Dosa. First time I saw a hotel from inside. Dosa was delicious and very naturally there was a joy of hard work and something we earned.
It became routine that the auctioneer use to bring 30-40 Scrap machine and at that time I saw some machines were noiseless (used by Army).
I was continue with repairing..... and it lasted for so many years.. i don't remember for how long.
But it became my passion habit or i my self can say my play or recreation.
Today I am using Computer smart phone and other many othergadgets but still.... The melody of Typewriter is missing from my life....So wonderful.....

Woodstock was one of the best machine i came across my Life.
